H.B. NORTHCOTE (American, 19th Century) SOUTHERN LANDSCAPE WITH SHACK AND FIGURES. Oil on canvas southern scene shows four figures, one on horseback, crossing bridge toward shack on one end. The shack sits atop a platform on stilts. A tall pole has hanging bundle at top presumably for safe keeping out of animals reach. Gray and white clouds are seen with blue sky. Signed lower left with a conjoined “HB Northcote”. Housed in a fine period lemon gold frame. SIZE: 7” x 13”. CONDITION: Some inpainting, very good. 9-97388 (1,700-2,000)
