*SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1922. Cal. 22. SN 1893. This is a nice rifle. It is not what one would call mint, but it does appear to be orig. It retains orig 1922 dual firing pin bolt, as well as 2 proper magazines and spare parts. The rifle appears to be used but not abused with some honest wear on it which is acceptable considering the rarity of and unaltered 1922 action. The bbl date is “1-23” CONDITION: Barreled action retains better than 90% of its blue but there are some areas of poor storage. There are also, just above the ELD in the nomenclature, a small, approx. 1/4-3/8” rnd area, of bare metal. There is the same area in size, approx. 3 1/2” forward on the bbl. I have no explanation for this other than they are there. Lyman 48 receiver sight shows about 50% orig finish. Orig 1922 nickel steel bolt is polished with some patina starting to turn on the body. Floorplate assembly and trigger guard show significant wear with the possibility of being touched up a little bit at some time. Buttstock is of the non-finger grooved variety with the large 1922 bordered in checkered buttplate. Front bbl band shows about 60% blue turning plumb. Bore is excellent and mechanics are perfect. This a very acceptable example of an orig 1922 that isn’t mint so you wouldn’t mind shooting it. Edwards Collection 4-58528 58BK30 (1,000-1,500)
