S. BROWNE (American, Early 20th Century) “WOMAN KNEELING IN GRASS”. Pastel on paper mounted on wood panel shows young woman kneeling picking grass. She wears a rust colored flower print scarf and dress with blue pants and black boots. Unsigned. Original label on reverse from the “Brooklyn Institute of Arts & Sciences, Brooklyn Museum, New York” with artist’s name, title and owner. Housed in what appears to be its original fancy leaf and flower gesso decorated gilt frame. SIZE: 12-1/2” x 18-1/2”. CONDITION: Very good. 9-97374 (1,750-2,250)
