MAGNIFICENT WINCHESTER HI-WALL ENGRAVED BY WINSTON CHURCHILL. SN 65284. Cal. 38-55. No. 3 weight. 30″ part oct bbl with windage adjustable fine bead front sight, serrated side sporting rear with set screw & 3″ tang-mounted Vernier sight & equipped with sgl set trigger. Standard hi-wall receiver with spectacular foliate scroll with flowers & magnificent buffalo, all with stippled shaded background, on left side; right side has similar scroll & flowers with majestic ram standing on rocky ledge, all with stippled shaded background. Bottom front of receiver is signed “Eng. By / W. Churchill”. Mounted with nicely figured walnut with H-style checkered Schnable forend with ebony tip insert, H-style checkered pistol grip with ebony insert & nickel Swiss butt plate. This gun was featured in Feb. 2001 Man at Arms ROLL OF HONOR, identifying gun to the Norman R. Weaver collection. Accompanying gun is a copy of Man at Arms magazine & hand-addressed envelope to Mr. Norman Weaver with return address of Winston G. Churchill, containing a Winston Churchill pictorial brochure signed & dated “Winston Churchill / Jan. 1, 2001”. PROVENANCE: Norman R. Weaver Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains nearly all of its fine custom blue finish. Receiver’s silver color is crisp & sharp. Stock is solid with a few minor handling marks & retains most of a fine custom finish.
