*ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL MODEL 1903 1913 NRA RIFLE. Cal. 30. SN 236360. This is an extremely nice example of a Rock Island 1913 NRA, which is a rare gun to begin with, and with a little cleaning would enhance pretty much any 03 collection that exists. CONDITION: Receiver retains 96-97% of its beautifully blue tinted case hardening, with just a small erosion spot above the “US” against the sight sleeve. Bolt retains 90% of its blue and is proper to this gun with nice, but fading, case colors on the magazine cutoff and safety. Bbl retains 95% of its finish with some slight surface rust due to poor storage, which this gun has seen. Rear sight sleeve and sight assembly are in excellent condition retaining 95% of their finish along with the dished knobs. Front bbl band assembly shows 98% finish with again some slight surface corrosion that should clean. Middle band shows approx. 50% orig finish with a fair amount of rust present. NRA marked rigger guard and floorplate assembly show better than 90% of the finish, but there is a fair amount of rust present that hopefully, most of which, will clean. Fine checkered buttplate is in outstanding condition with a period pull-through cleaner in the trap. Rifle is equipped with a Rock Island Arsenal dated “1914” sling and a “1908” bayonet and scabbard, with the bayonet being updated for WWII by being parkerized and having the wooden handles replaced with plastic. The scabbard is in excellent condition overall. 4-58735 BK80 (2,500-3,500)
