SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1873 CADET TRAPDOOR RIFLE. Cal. 45-70. SN 67601. Standard rifle with 29-1/2” bbl, square base front sight/bayonet lug, standard rear sight with “1873” dated, high-arch breech block and “1873” dated lock plate. It has 1-pc stock without trap and no provision for sling swivels, and has a slotted head ramrod. CONDITION: About good. Metal retains a dark plum brown patina with scattered pitting on the lockplate. Stock is nicked and dinged all over, missing a chip back of the lock plate, otherwise retains most of a lightly sanded refinish. Shiny bore with moderate pitting. 4-51139 JR1037 (400-700)
