*SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1903. Cal. 30. SN 139370. This rifle is your basic example of an ’03 Springfield that has been rebuilt by Sedgley post World War II. Sedgley was under contract to rebuild small arms for the Marine Corp during World War II. It appears that this rifle went through that program but did not get completed until after the war. Typically the World War II Sedgley will have the bbl marking “U.S.M.C.” with an S and Circle underneath it. The post war guns had no such markings on the bbl which coincides with this example. Rifle is also equipped with a 1917 Enfield front band assembly (missing screw) which is typical of the post war Sedgley. CONDITION: Receiver retains approx. 75% of an arsenal or Sedgley refinish ( probably at the time of re-barrel). It has a Remington bolt that for whatever reason has had the bend or sweep removed from the handle. Rifle has a late WWI 2-bolt, finger groove buttstock that is cracking from being dry. The hand guard is also late WWI variety. Trigger guard and floorplate assembly show approx. 10% of orig finish and rifle is equipped with an aged and well-used World War I sling. Bore is poor.
