*INTERESTING WINCHESTER SEMI-DELUXE HI-WALL. SN 118727. Cal. 38-55. No. 3 weight. 30″ oct bbl, globe front sight, flat top sporting rear with set screw, 4″ Vernier tang sight & dbl set triggers. Mounted with select grade walnut, uncheckered pistol grip with Winchester hard rubber grip cap, crescent butt plate, Schnable forend with ebony tip insert. Inspection of lower tang reveals assembly no. “109 CF”; same number can be found on rear of buttstock. Early bbl with engraved caliber designation and proofmark between it & rear sight. Bottom of bbl with dovetail cut, “VP” proof, 38-55 & 1.23. Forend is also cut for early style spring. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Estate Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 90% orig blue with wear on sharp edges & some minor spots of fine surface oxidation. Receiver retains 95% orig blue with wear at sharp edges. Proofmark is crisp & sharp. Breechblock shows strong case colors as well as lever and fading across bottom. Stock is sound with some nicks & scratches; appears orig with a coat of added finish. Forend is sound with some minor battering on forward right side & carries a hand-worn patina finish. Mechanics are crisp including dbl set trigger & nice shiny bore. 4-35694 BDT265 (4,000-7,000)
