*DELUXE WINCHESTER HI-WALL SCHUETZEN RIFLE. SN 99955. Cal. 32-40. No. 3 weight. 30″ oct bbl, windage adjustable globe front sight, blank in rear seat, 3″ Vernier tang-mounted sight; equipped with spur finger lever & dbl set triggers. Mounted with “XX” fancy walnut, checkered Schnable forend with ebony tip insert, equipped with folding palm rest, checkered pistol grip stock, Winchester hard rubber grip cap, left side Schuetzen cheekpiece & Helm-pattern butt plate. Inspection of lower tang reveals assembly no. “21018 XX US”; matching no. can be found on back of stock & inside toe of butt plate. Accompanied by Cody Firearms Museum fact sheet identifying gun as rifle 22 short, no. 3, 30″ oct bbl, Schuetzen set triggers, checkered pistol grip stock, Stevens telescope, mid-range & windgauge sight, no rear seat, cheekpiece, Helm-pattern butt plate, spur lever, palm rest; received in warehouse June 7, 1905, & shipped same day on order no. 11758. PROVENANCE: Dr. Frank Miller Estate Collection. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl retains 85-90% orig blue with some brown toning & wear on sharp edges; rub mark behind rear seat & Winchester proofmark in front of caliber designation. Receiver retains 90% orig case colors with some faint surface oxidation on left side & thinning at sharp edges. Buttstock is sound with some minor nicks & scrapes, hairline crack on left side midway between tangs & retains most of a professional restored finish. Butt plate retains nearly all of its nickel finish. Forend is sound with minor bruising & handling marks, retaining most of its piano varnish finish. Mechanics are crisp, including set trigger, & nice shiny bore. 4-35693 BDT274 (10,000-15,000)
