THREE ART NOUVEAU LEATHER BOUND VOLUMES OF THE WORKS OF CHARLES PAUL DE KOCK, BIBLIOMANIAC EDITION 1903. Bibliomaniac edition of the works of Charles Paul De Kock in 100 volumes. Limited to 10 numbered and registered sets. Copyrighted and published by the Frederick J. Quimby Company, Boston/Paris/London, 1903. Introduction by Jules Claretie. Translated into English by Mary Hanford Ford. Each volume a numbered limited edition and so marked. Bound in burgundy hand-tooled leather, decorated overall with iris in the art nouveau fashion, the pages uncut, the title page, frontice page, etc., all heightened with hand done watercolors of the period. Each volume with original engravings and watercolors executed for this edition by various artists including, John Sloan, William Glackens, James Preston, Louis Meynelle, et al. Each volume fitted in its original custom conforming box. This lot consists of “Frère Jacques” volume 2, set 5, “Frère Jacques” volume 3, set 5, “Jean” volume 3, set 5. PROVENANCE: Given as a gift by John Sloan to the grandmother and fellow artist of the current owner, by descent through the family.
