*RARE #1 ENGRAVED DELUXE NO. 20-A TROMBONE ACTION RIFLE. SN 555. Cal .22 S,L&LR. Oct 24″ bbl with bead front sight and model 20 rear sight. Bbl marked on top flat “Marlin Firearms Co. NEW-HAVEN. CT. U.S.A./PAT’D AUG. 12. 1890 MAR. 1. ’92. JUNE 8. ’97. NOV. 29. 1904”. Takedown receiver with No. 1 factory engraving. Top tang marked “Marlin/No 20-A”. Straight grip stock and deluxe forend of highly figured American walnut with No. B checkering. Second type crescent steel buttplate. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection. CONDITION: Fair. Bbl has reblued finish with areas of pitting. Mag tube has orig blue in the protected areas blending with patina and surface oxidization. Receiver has strong engraving, traces of orig blue blending with patina and very light pitting. Buttplate has areas of pitting. Stock was broken and repaired on the right side of wrist area, with a small crack on the left side of tang and a chip at the heel. Forend was broken and repaired on the left side. Wood has finish added, worn checkering and moderate handling marks. Sound action. Bore is dark with pitting. 4-40429 DS43 (750-1,250)
