*MARLIN NO. 27-S PUMP ACTION RIFLE. SN 3297. Cal. 25-20. 24″ oct bbl with ivory bead front sight and Rocky Mountain rear sight. Top flat of bbl is marked “The Marlin Firearms Corporation, NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. / PATENTED U.S.A. MAR. 24, 1908. JULY 11, 1911.”. Left side below rear sight is marked “Special Smokeless Steel”. Has standard two piece action and crescent steel buttplate. Stock and forearm are of American walnut. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection. CONDITION: Overall good. Bbl has heavy original blue with widely scattered surface oxidation. Magazine tube has very good blue with some light surface oxidation on the bottom of the forward section. Receiver has good original blue with scattered spots of surface oxidation and an area of pitting on the right side plate. Buttplate has good blue with spots of surface oxidation. Stock and forearm are sound having crazed original finish with normal handling marks. Action has a minor mechanical problem that does not allow the bolt to lock or the hammer to drop.
