HAND CARVED GUS WILSON PREENING SCOTER DECOY. Augustus Wilson was an old lighthouse keeper from South Portland, ME who observed the waterfowl around him and carved throughout the day. Wilson’s carvings are some of the most desirable of Maine decoy carvers and most particularly for their sometime very folky form. This example with raised wings and preening form is a scarcer form for Wilson with the Wilson inlayed head and carved eyes. SIZE: Approx. 16-1/2″ long. CONDITION: Some old restorations and repainted long ago. Hit by shot. 4-53626 (1,800-2,800)
