*MARLIN NO. 27-S PUMP ACTION RIFLE. SN 1153. Cal. 25-20M. 24″ oct bbl with Lyman front sight and Rocky Mountain rear sight. Top flat of bbl is marked “The Marlin Firearms Corporation, NEW HAVEN, CONN. U.S.A. / PATENTED U.S.A. MAR. 24, 1908, JULY 11, 1911.”. Left side of bbl below rear sight is marked “Special Smokeless Steel”. Standard two piece receiver, crescent steel buttplate. Stock and forearm are of quarter sawn American walnut. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. 98% bbl blue with light wear at the muzzle and sharp edges. Magazine tube blue has silvering on the rear portion from pump action and a small area of wear on the right side of forward portion. Receiver has 95% blue with very light edge wear, fine handling scratches, bottom is fading to a brown patina. Buttplate has very good blue with scattered areas of wear. Sound stock and forearm with lightly crazed original varnish finish having minor handling marks. Mechanics are crisp with a very good bore. 4-40444 DS17 (1,500-2,500)
