*RARE USMC CONTRACT COLT MODEL 1911 SEMI-AUTO MILITARY PISTOL. Cal. 45 ACP. SN 209724. This pistol is one of only approx. 8,350 contracted by the Marine Corps prior to and during WWI. Usual configuration with 5” “P” & “H” proofed bbl and diamond checkered walnut grips. It has the Gilbert H. Stewart inspector mark on left side of frame. Accompanied by a flat base 2-tone magazine. This pistol was in the 1917 third USMC Contract. CONDITION: Fine to very fine. Slide retains 90-92% orig blue, slightly thinned over top. Frame retains about 85% orig blue, strong & bright on sides, thin & turning brown on front strap, strong grip safety with a gray spring housing. Grips are fine, show light to moderate wear, heavier on right side with a few chipped diamonds. Magazine retains 75-80% orig blue. Mechanics are fine, strong bright bore with some fine pitting at muzzle end. 4-30035 JR96 (3,000-4,500)
