FINE AND IMPORTANT PAIR OF MEISSEN SEATED “PAGODA NODDERS”. Late 19th Century. Depicting an Asian male and a female figure seated cross-legged, Buddha-esque, wearing finely decorated floral robes. Each nodding head pivoting on the body with a brass counter-balance. The outstretched hands pivoting on pins mounted within the sleeves. Each head finely painted with open eyes and mouths with wagging tongue. Each marked on the base rim with blue glazed cross swords. Incised with the numbers “153” and “154”. SIZE: 5-3/4”h of each. CONDITION: Very find enamel surfaces, small nick in collar of male figure. 9-90042 LG (5,000-7,000)
