*SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1896 KRAG CARBINE. Cal. 30. SN 70847. This is a pleasing, but fairly well-used example of a ’96 Krag Carbine that is 100% correct. CONDITION: Approx. 40-50% fading finish on the receiver and sideplate. Approx. 25% finish on the magazine cover, but with no rust or corrosion existing. Bolt is starting to patina as well as the blue fading on the extractor with the remaining coverage of about 30%. Bbl assembly is equipped with a sight cover and retains about 60-65% blue that may have had the slightest bit of touchup somewhere along the line, however still remains very pleasing to look at. Bbl band and rear carbine sight assembly are faded to patina and the bore of this rifle shows extensive use with moderate pitting throughout, although rifling is still fairly strong. Trigger guard assembly is about 80% blue, but faded to patina with one small dent at the very bottom. “1897” cartouche buttstock is in good condition with minor dings throughout, primarily on the left side, and the finger grooves still have a fair sharpness to them. Upper hand guard assembly is in excellent condition with 1 or 2 small dings and no cracks. Buttplate shows about 20% fading blue. Although well used, this Carbine is still very pleasing to look at overall, and would be a nice addition to a collection. Edwards Collection 4-58503 BK44 (1,100-1,800)
