AFRA & TOBIA SCARPA DESIGNED NINE-PIECE DINING ROOM SET FOR MAXALTO. For the New Harmony Collection (#8100 table and #8104 chairs), purchased in Italy in the mid 1980s. Round dining table with a rust color lacquered top in high gloss. The table edge and spiral inlay design is in walnut or rosewood with contrasting hardwood inlays. Central inlay in briar burl. The supporting structure having four double round legs and box stretcher on cast iron feet. The legs are solid turned walnut with inlaid strips of contrasting hard woods. The matching chairs with similar inlaid round turned legs and stretchers supporting a shaped seat and back in mathing rust color lacquer. SIZE: Table: 28-1/2″ h x 51-1/4″ dia. Chairs: 7-3/4″ at widest x 31-1/2″ h x 17″ seat h; 17-3/4″ at deepest. PROVENANCE: From a Downeast Maine Estate. CONDITION: Table has a 14-1/2″ U-shaped crack in the polycoat on the top.
