CHARLES AUGUST EMILE CAROLUS-DURAN (French, 1838-1917) PORTRAIT OF GENERAL WILLIAM F. DRAPER. General William F. Draper, U.S.A., was ambassador to Italy, 1897-1901. Oil on canvas portrait shows a half portrait of a distinguished gentleman with white to gray mustache and hair wearing a dark suit with white shirt and white tie having a red lapel button. Signed upper left “Carolus Duran Rome, 1907″. He is seen against a red mottled background. Housed in a modern wood frame. SIZE: 24-3/4″ x 20-1/4”. CONDITION: Relined, restretched on new stretcher, minor touch up. Very good. 9-99000 (2,500-3,500)
