*SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1898 KRAG “GALLERY PRACTICE” RIFLE. Cal. 22. SN 476918. This 1898 Krag Gallery practice rifle falls into the proper range and proper modification for being a type 3 Gallery Practice Krag. The gun appears to be 100% orig. It is in the correct SN range, correct markings, everything is as it should be for the very rare 22 Gallery gun. CONDITION: Receiver retains approx. 30% of the orig case colors with the balance fading to grey. Sideplate retains approx. 50% with the balance also fading to grey. Magazine cover retains about 65% with the balancing plumbing. Trigger guard assembly, though containing much finish, has turned to plum. 22-bbl assembly retains approx. 50-60% of the orig blue with a slightly dark, but in excellent condition, bore. Rifle is also equipped with a front sight/muzzle protector. Stock is in very good condition with the exception of a 1” x 1/2” x 1/8” deep chip at the bottom right hand corner of the cartouche. Also 4 notches and an “X” carved in at the top of the grip. Balance of the stock is excellent condition with a very legible cartouche, unfortunately the knick goes through the last 2 numbers of the cartouche. Upper hand guard is in exceptional condition with very minor dings. Rifle has 03 type sling, but is torn at the bottom. Edwards Collection 4-58508 BK52 (3,000-5,000)
