*SPRINGFIELD ARMORY MODEL 1894/96 KRAG RIFLE. Cal. 30. SN 20613. This is a very good example of a 94/96 update Krag rifle that has been well kept throughout the year. It shows lots of condition for its age and the use that it has seen. It is mechanically fine but the action (could use just a little oil) and a nice bright bore. CONDITION: Receiver retains approx. 50% colors fading with some spotting underneath. Sideplate retains approx. 70% colors with also some spotting underneath. Magazine cover retains approx 45-50% colors. Trigger guard assembly retains approx. 70% bright blue with some dirt that could use a cleaning. Bbl assembly shows 85-90% blue with some dried grease at the wood line. Bbl also has muzzle cover/sight protector. Bbl bands (both) retain about 70% of their orig blue with some slight corrosion in spots. Rear sight assembly retains about 70% blue and is of the proper ’96 type. Buttstock has the Armory nicely filled cleaning rod groove that would be expected on this update, and although no cartouche is present, the circle “P” is still very present. Stock is in very good shape with fairly sharp finger grooves with some numerous small dents and dings, predominantly around the magazine assembly with 1 prominent, but not detracting scuff, on the right side approx. 2” in front of the buttplate. Rifle is equipped with a Mills “1880/94” web sling with brass accoutrements and is in good condition with some minor staining. Edwards Collection 4-58499 BK49 (1,500-2,500)
