SPECIAL ORDER MARLIN MODEL 1894 TAKE-DOWN 2 BARREL SET. SN 119431. Cal. 32-20 & 25-20. 24″ oct to rnd bbls, full mag take-down, German silver rocky mountain front sights, V-notch sporting rears with set screw. Both bbls are marked the same on top flat “MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED. OCT. 11. 1887. APRIL 2. 1889. AUGUST 1. 1893”. Caliber markings are “32-W” and “25-20M”. Standard receiver with top marked “MARLIN SAFETY” and top tang “MODEL / 1894”. Mounted with lightly figured straight grain walnut, uncheckered straight grip, crescent steel buttplate, standard forends with nose caps. Inspection of inside tangs finds matching “119431” on left side of top tang and top tang channel of stock. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection CONDITION: Fine+. 25 cal. bbl and mag tube retain 95% orig blue with some minor rub marks on rnd portion and normal minor nicks & scratches. 32 cal. bbl has 90% orig blue with minor muzzle wear rubbing on left side of rnd portion about 7″ back and blending with silver patina, a few other thinned areas blending with silver patina and normal minor nicks & dings. Receiver retains 95% orig case colors dulling a little on sides but bright in protected areas. Hammer retains strong orig blue lightly silvering on right side. Lever shows dark orig case colors in protected areas with balance blending a brown patina. Stock is sound with numerous fine nicks & dings and typical handling marks and retains a thin coat of added finish. Forends are sound with some nicks, dings & dents and retain a thin coat of added finish. Mechanics are crisp. 25 cal. bore is nice with some shallow, scattered pitting in grooves. 32 cal. has shiny bore with a few, scattered shallow pits. 4-40367 BDT222 (3,500-5,000)
