RARE ORIGINAL SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1894 KRAG RIFLE.

RARE ORIGINAL SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1894 KRAG RIFLE. Cal. 30-40 Krag. SN 4800. Very rare rifle with 30” bbl, pedestal mounted, blade front sight & a 2,000 yard orig ladder rear sight. Mounted in 1-pc walnut stock with split front band & stacking swivel, middle band with sling swivel & a corresponding sling swivel in buttstock. It has smooth, steel buttplate without trap. It has orig wiping rod in a channel in bottom of forestock. It also has an 1894 cartouche on left wrist. CONDITION: Fine. Bbl is a blue/brown patina with traces of blue in sheltered areas and on front band. Sideplate & cartridge box are a thin blue/gray patina and receiver is a blue/brown patina. Stock has a major repair through wrist and comb and overall retains about all of a restored finish with gouges on left side by receiver and normal use & handling marks elsewhere. Mechanics are fine, strong bore, dark in grooves. 4-60688 JR669 (5,000-8,000)
