SUPERB SPECIAL ORDER MARLIN 1894 DELUXE TAKEDOWN RIFLE. SN 150072. Cal. 25-20M. Gun exhibits eleven special order features incl. 22″ part rnd bbl with Beaches combination front sight, no rear sight dovetail and Lyman No. 1 combination tang sight, top flat of bbl is marked “MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO. NEW-HAVEN. CT. U.S.A. / PATENTED. OCT. 11. 1887. APRIL 2. 1889. AUGUST 1. 1893.”. 1/2 length mag. Case color takedown receiver with flush-type locking cam. S-shaped pistol grip, deluxe stock and forearm with Style-A checkering. Rifle stocked with fancy American walnut with hard rubber shotgun buttplate. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection. Accompanied by a Cody Firearms Museum letter stating Model 1894/25 cal/22-inch, 1/2 oct bbl/pistol grip/takedown/shipped from warehouse Nov. 10, 1897. CONDITION: Fine. 98% bbl blue with very light edge wear. Receiver has strong case colors on sides with fading and blending with patina on the heavier wear areas. Stock has a small chip on the left side where the lower tang and receiver meet. Good checkering with some flattening of diamonds on forearm, very good finish with normal handling marks. Mechanics are crisp with dark bore having strong rifling. 4-40359 DS48 (6,000-10,000)
