WINCHESTER HOTCHKISS SECOND MODEL ARMY CARBINE. Cal. 45/70. SN 12638. 24” rnd bbl. Standard 3-line Winchester markings on left side of receiver. U.S. inspector marks on bbl, receiver, and bolt. No cartouche is visible on stock. Receivers and buttplates of these were furnished to Springfield Armory, who built rest of parts and assembled the guns. Only 400 of them were made. Nickel-plated brass forearm tip contains the two-piece ramrod. CONDITION: Gray/brown patina with areas of cleaning. Stock has been broken and repaired at wrist and on both sides of action. Mechanically good. Bore is lightly pitted. 4-58479 FS152 (1,000-1,500)
