*VERY RARE MARLIN MODEL 94 TRAPPER SRC. SN D7720. Cal. 44-40, 15″ rnd bbl, full magazine, dovetailed front sight with slightly modified fine bead, standard carbine ladder rear sight. Markings on top of bbl are quite worn and only partially visible but appear to be standard markings. Chamber markings are similarly worn and faint. Standard receiver with top tang marked “MARLIN / MODEL ’94.”, with staple and ring on left side. Mounted with nicely figured uncheckered pistol grip stock, right side near buttplate inlet 1929 Mercury Head Dime, curved steel buttplate, Marlin bull’s eye 4″ from toe, standard forend with bbl band. Inspection of inside tangs finds number on left side of top tang “396995”. Top tang channel of stock is marked “7720” matching serial number. Gun is accompanied with a U.S. Department of Justice ATF letter identifying gun as an “exempt curio and relic.” Letter is signed by John R. Spencer. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection CONDITION: Fair. Bbl and mag tube show considerable wear and is a silver patina with some minor traces of orig blue in protected areas. Receiver retains a gray patina with some areas of shallow surface oxidation. Hammer has turned a brown patina blended with silver. Lever shows some orig case coloring with bottom part of loop wrapped in leather. Stock is sound with nicks, dings, scratches & minor bruising and retains a coat of added finish blending with hand-worn patina in grip area. Forend is sound with normal nicks, dings & scratches, a flaked varnish finish blending with hand-worn patina. Mechanics are crisp with slightly dark bore with moderate, scattered shallow pitting. 4-40370 BDT210 (3,000-5,000)
