*EXTREMELY RARE MARLIN MODEL 94 DELUXE ENGRAVED CARBINE. SN 403529. Cal. 25-20. Fantastic carbine with 20″ tapered rnd bbl, full magazine, Marbles No. 5 ivory bead front sight, folding leaf carbine rear sight and a Lyman loop tang sight. Mounted with very highly figured, tiger-striped American walnut with “B” style checkered forearm and straight stock with smooth steel carbine buttplate. Bbl band has factory sling loop with a corresponding loop in the butt stock. Receiver is engraved in No. 3 style by Conrad Ulrich with the round vignette of a feeding bull elk in a meadow scene on left side surrounded by foliate arabesque patterns with punch dot back ground. It has wavelet borders on top & bottom edges and heart shaped borders at front & rear edges. Right side has full coverage foliate arabesque patterns with matching engraving on side of bolt and wavelet border at bottom edge with matching heart shaped borders at front & rear edges. Top edges of reciever have tiny wavelet borders with light arabesque patterns on top flat, over receiver ring and on top tang. Bottom of receiver has a small foliate arabesque patterns. Both sides of bbl over chamber area have about 3″ of light arabesque pattern engraving. SN is on bottom of receiver, left side of top tang under the wood, inside top tang channel of butt stock and inside buttplate. Buttplate & butt stock SNs have been stamped above a previous SN “404214” which is consistent with other Marlin products of this time frame by Marlin-Rockwell, very likely a mix-up at the factory or changed at the factory for a special order prior to shipping, or it could have simply been Marlin-Rockwell using up old parts. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine, all matching. Bbl & magazine tube retain virtually all of their strong orig factory blue, slightly dulled over the forearm area. Receiver retains about 95% orig factory blue, slightly thinned over top & bottom edges. Lever & hammer retain mostly faded case colors, strong in sheltered areas. Buttplate retains 70-75% bright orig blue with wear at heel & toe. Wood is sound with usual handling & use nicks & scratches in the varnish with one small gouge on left side of comb and overall retains most of its orig piano varnish with slight crazing and moderate wear on checkering.
