SAMUEL R. CHAFFEE (American, 1850-) THE REMNANTS OF AUTUMN. Wonderful watercolor scene shows a pond having grass and tree lined banks leading to a white farmhouse and small groves of trees. Several birds accent the light blue sky and the colorful remnants of the late fall foliage can be seen. Signed lower right “S R Chaffee”. Housed in a modern gilt frame with thick ivory matte.
