RARE SPRINGFIELD/LEE MODEL 1875 RIFLE. Cal. 45/70 NSN 32-5/8” rnd bbl. Marked “U.S / PAT. MAR. 18. 1875.” on upper tang. “ESA” cartouche on left side of stock and “P” in a circle on bottom of stock, behind trigger guard. A single “T” is in the same position. James Paris Lee invented this rifle in 1875, and 143 of them were made at Springfield. CONDITION: Excellent. Little wear except on trigger guard, which still retains 75% of blue with lesser amounts missing from hammer and breechblock. Stock shows almost no signs of handling. Mechanically fine.
