SPRINGFIELD M1892 RIFLE W/BAYONET. Cal. 30-40. SN 2512. 30” rnd bbl. Marked, “U. S. / 1894. SPRINGFIELD ARMORY. 2512” upper left receiver. This is the second type with the dbl strap front bbl band w/bayonet lug. Orig bayonet is also dated “1894” and is in a metal scabbard with the 1-pc sheet iron belt hook. Orig type ramrod is slightly better condition than the gun. Sight leaf is graduated to 19. CONDITION: Blue/brown patina on bbl and triggerguard with 75% blue on buttplate. Receiver has a gray/brown patina. All metal parts have scattered light surface rust and pitting. Stock has a very faint cartouche on left side and remnants of Gothic “P” on bottom of stock. There is a hairline crack running forward from triggerguard. Otherwise, normal handling marks. Bore is evenly pitted. Mechanically fine. Bayonet has a smooth gray patina with widely scattered spots of rust. Scabbard has minor dents. There is a small gouge on right scale of grip. 4-31020 FS159 (4,000-5,000)
