SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1879 CADET RIFLE. Cal. 45/70. SN 101833. 29-1/2” rnd bbl. Ski jump sight. Made without sling swivels. Has a stacking swivel on front bbl band only. Also has early long grip stock, apparently left over from 1873 production. Approximately 5,000 of these were made. “SWP” cartouche is dated 1890, five years after the production of this cadet rifle. CONDITION: 50% blue mixed with brown patina and light surface rust. Stock has minor handling marks. Action is fine. Edwards Collection 4-58480 (500-1,000)
