REMINGTON JENKS CARBINE WITH POWDER FLASK. SN 3/16. Cal.54. Bbl length 24-1/4”. Marked “REMINGTON’S / HERKIMER / N.Y.” on the lockplate and “W.JENKS / U.S.N / RP / P / 1847 / CAST-STEEL” on top of the bbl. The loading aperture is oval “JP” cartouche on the left side of the stock with inspector initials on other parts. The 7-3/4” Fouled Anchor is marked “STIMPSON / O.H.P / 1845” on the top, “P” on the side of the top ring and “O.H.P.” on the body. The spout has been replaced. The rings are intact. CONDITION: Very fine. Retains 70% of the thinning brown on the bbl and half of the mottled blue on the operating lever and lockplate. Wood is fine with minor handling marks. Mechanically fine. Flask is excellent, retaining about 80% of the thinning brown varnish. Top has been cleaned but has toned nicely. 4-59363 FS604 (5,000-7,000)
