SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1884 SADDLERING CARBINE. Cal. 45/70. SN 414149. 22” rnd bbl. Standard markings on lockplate and breechblock. “SWP” cartouche dated 1888. Model 1890 bbl band with protection for rear sight has been added to this gun. Headless shell extractor and two-piece ramrod are under trapdoor in buttplate. CONDITION: Retains most of reblue finish on bbl, action, and lock with 60% orig blue on trigger guard, 20% on buttplate. Stock cracked at rear of lockplate with large mildew stain on left side near butt. Mechanically fine. Bore is evenly pitted. Edwards Collection 4-58495 (1,000-1,500)
