SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1879 CARBINE. Cal. 45/70. SN 208932*. 22” rnd bbl. Standard Springfield Model 1873 markings. Meaning of star after serial number is still not known. Model 1890 bbl band/sight protector has been installed. CONDITION: Fine. 80% thinning blue on bbl, 70% on lockplate, and 50% on buttplate. Bright casehardening colors on breechblock. Stock has been lightly cleaned and there are small cracks at rear of lockplate. Mechanically good. Bore is bright. Edwards Collection 4-58483 (1,500-2,500)
