*MAUSER MODEL G98/40 BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 8 mm. SN 209b. Fine early Mauser with “jhv / 41” marking on the receiver ring. It has 24” rnd bbl with hooded front sight and a 2,000 meter rear sight. It has the split rear bridge with knurled striker knob & thumb safety. Mounted in 2-pc walnut stock with long handguard & bayonet lug with cleaning rod. Sling is mounted on left side and it has Waffenampt stamps on right side below the sling slot and on bottom of stock along with the “jhv” marking. Left side of forestock is scratched with the name “DON BURGY”. Receiver & bbl have eagle & swastika proofs along with Waffenampt stamps. CONDITION: Fine, all matching including small parts. Metal retains about 90% thinning orig blue. Wood is sound with normal handling & use nicks, dings & scratches and retains a hand worn oil finish with all markings legible, although faint in some areas.
