WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal 44WCF. SN 15010. First model carbine with 20” bbl, integral bbl band/front sight and early 1866 style two position rear sight. It has the Mortised dust cover with impressed thumb print and a staple & ring in the left side of the receiver. It has uncheckered wood with straight stock and carbine buttplate with trap. It is accompanied by a box of Winchester ammunition, containing 48 cartridges, that has a green label with black lettering and a craft colored band with a picture of an 1873 carbine on the side. CONDITION: Fair to good. No original finish remains being an even medium gray-brown patina overall. The thumbprint on the dust cover and the SN have been re-cut and the lever latch is missing. Wood is sound showing moderate to heavy wear missing a chip at the buttplate with a couple of gouges and usual handling and use marks. Strong bore with moderate pitting. Ammunition box is missing one end and has broken edges and corners. The ammunition is oxidized. 4-50340 JR141 (3,000-5,000)
