WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 SADDLE RING CARBINE.

WINCHESTER MODEL 1873 SADDLE RING CARBINE. Cal 44-40. SN 296334. Standard 3rd model carbine with 20” bbl, full magazine, two bbl bands with square base, barleycorn style front sight and 1873 marked ladder carbine rear sight. The slide keeper screw is missing. It has uncheckered wood with straight stock and carbine butt containing a 3-pc brass and iron wiping rod and a very old piece of cotton cloth. The staple and ring have been removed from the left side of the receiver and the holes filled with plug screws. CONDITION: Good plus. Bbl and magazine tube retain a mostly even smooth plum brown patina with moderate pitting in an area on the right side. Receiver retains 20-25% thin original blue with the balance a light brown patina with spots of moderate to heavy pitting, primarily on the left side. Wood is sound and retains a fine dark patina.
