*SCARCE G33/40 MAUSER BOLT ACTION MILITARY RIFLE. Cal. 8 mm. SN 1225b. Small ring Mauser with 19-1/2” bbl, barleycorn front sight with hood and 1,000 meter rear sight. It has bayonet lug with cleaning rod & has a sling on left side. Receiver ring is marked “dot / 1941”. Bolt knob is hollowed for weight reduction. Left side of buttstock, at the buttplate, has a screwed on metal shield that wraps around the toe and there are various markings and Waffenampts on bottom & side of stock. Stock is laminated in three pieces as is normal for these rifles which were issued to mountain troops and had the laminated wood to combat expansion & contraction in colder weather. These rifles are seldom encountered today as the majority of them were used to make sporting rifles after WWII. CONDITION: Very fine, all matching including small parts. Metal retains about 90% orig blue, strong & bright on receiver, floorplate & triggerguard. Bolt shows moderate wear. Stock is sound with usual nicks, dings & scratches and retains a fine, hand worn patina. Mechanics are crisp, bright shiny bore. 4-31189 JR469 (2,000-3,000)
