SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1873 TRAPDOOR RIFLE WITH BAYONET. Cal. 45/70. SN 77641. 32-5/8” rnd bbl. Although this rifle falls in the serial number range of the Model 1877, it retains the high arch breechblock, and thus must be considered a Model 1873. An iron plaque has been nailed to the right side of the buttstock marked “JGBC / FRB”. “ESA” cartouche is dated 1877. Bayonet, scabbard, and frog are standard. CONDITION: Brown patina overall with scattered spots of orig blue. Stock has normal handling marks plus filled hole in bottom of butt. Mechanically fine. Bayonet is fine.
