*MAGNIFICENT EXHIBITION BROWNING OVER-AND-UNDER EXPRESS RIFLE. SN 8L3RP9001. Cal. 30-06. 24″ bbls with hand filed raised rib, ramp front with fine bead sight, single blade flip-up express rear, with left side of bbl at chamber marked “Fabrique Nationale Herstal”. The sideplated custom shop action is engraved with stag and hind in a wooded scene on left plate and roe deer and doe on right plate, a boar on bottom of receiver with balance a fine tight foliate arabesque scroll with shaded background, executed and signed “L. Vrancken” on both sideplates. Mounted in highly figured exhibition walnut with carved dropper point, fine wrap-around checkered pistol grip and skip line checkered butt. Full checkered 3-pc forend with schnable tip. This gun is prominently pictured with a full page dedicated to only this gun in the book “FN, 100 Years, the Story of a Great Liege Company, 1889 to 1989” which accompanies gun. Accompanied with brown leather luggage case and FN Browning label. This gun should be considered some of Vrancken’s finest work. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Bbl retains nearly all of its fine original blue, receiver is crisp and has nearly all of its fine gray finish. Wood is sound with sharp crisp checkering and a few minor handling marks in its fine original oil finish. Forend is sound with crisp checkering and retains virtually all of its fine oil finish. Case has just a few minor scuffs on corners and is likewise in near new condition. 4-35566 BDT174 (27,500-37,500)
