1ST MODEL MERWIN & HULBERT OPEN TOP REVOLVER. Cal. appears to be 44 M&H. SN 1303. Nickel finish with bbl cut to 5 1/8”, open top with scooped flute cylinder and scarce humpback hammer with ivory grips. CONDITION: As noted. Retains 20-25% original nickel, stronger on the bbl with very heavy pitting on bbl and spots on cylinder. Missing a side plate screw, the locking bolt screw is changed, and the loading gate screw is missing. Mechanics are fine, grips are very worn with a chipped heel and cracked toe, missing lanyard loop, and bore is very worn and dark. This appears to be a real cowboy gun with bbl cut during period of use with old holster pitting. 4-51265 JR8 (400-700)
