LARGE B & O SCALE MODEL STEAM ENGINE AND TENDER. A most intricate and elaborate scale model with 3-1/2″ (inside) track dimension. Engine is a 2-6-0 outline with 8 wheel tender. Without a doubt this train was meant to operate as the water tank was in the tender with connection running from rear of engine. A very complex side rod and valve system appear to be intact. Perhaps the engine of the 1860s period with a huge brass lantern affixed above the boiler front and a gargantuan funnel smoke stack typical of this period. Looking in engine cab one can see a number of valves and levers to control the steam, speed and perhaps forward/reverse mechanism. Great attention is paid to all details especially little points that are commonly overlooked in creating a scale model. Included with this engine and tender is a custom floor model case. SIZE: Approx 42″ l x 12″ h. Case: 47″ w x 14″ d 51″ t. CONDITION: Overall very fine plus condition, cow catcher detached but present. 1-8307 (800-1,200)
