*ITHACA NID 4E GRADE SIDE BY SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 456899. Cal. 20 ga. 28″ bbl. Concave tapered matted rib, and dual ivory sighting beads. 2-1/2″ chambers CYL./FULL choke, ejectors, and single selective trigger. This last style receiver is engraved in typical grade 4 fashion, with open floral design, stippled shaded background, and Ithaca Gun Co. and flying duck on left side. Open floral on bottom, and “Ithaca, N.Y.” with standing pheasant on right side. Trigger bow is engraved with open floral design and stippled background. Mounted with fancy walnut with full checkered beavertail forend and black tip insert. Fleur De Lis checkered pistol grip with hard rubber grip cap, and 14″ over Ithaca sunburst pad, and 1/4″ black spacer. Toe line has blank gold initial shield. Accompanied with Ithaca Gun Co. letter dated December 3rd, 1952 identifying this gun as found, and quoting an orig cost of $225.00, and a copy of the obituary notice of orig owner Nelly Gist Blyphe, dated December 9th, 1957. Bore diameter: left -..615, right -.615. Bore restrictions: left -.014, right -.000. Wall thickness: left -.035, right -.031. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″. Drop at comb: 1-1/2″. Weight: 6 lbs 14 oz. Accompanied with a black leather luggage case with dark blue interior believed to be for a Browning A5 or Remington model 11. CONDITION: Very fine. Bbls retain 90-95% orig blue with slight muzzle wear and usual nicks and dings and some very fine pinhead size rust. Receiver retains 95% orig case coloring with just a little fading around the bottom. Stocks are solid with a few grain cracks on right side and the usual light nicks and scrapes. Finish is that of a factory quality restoration. Forend has a couple of minor chips along iron and some finish crazing that appears to be the orig finish. An extremely find grade 4 late style NID with solid mat top receiver. Mechanics are crisp, and bores are bright. Case is very good with a few minor scuffs to the leather, and slightly worn interior. 8-87581 BDT122 (6,500-9,500)
