*OUTSTANDING ITHACA FLUES 4E GRADE 2-BBL SET SIDE-BY-SIDE SHOTGUN. SN 340912. Cal. 20 ga. 1ST SET: 26″ bbls with tapered, matted rib with white center & ivory front sighting beads, 2-1/2″ chambers, choked CYL / MOD, marked “0” & “2”, with ejectors. 2ND SET: 30″ bbls with tapered, matted rib & dual ivory sighting beads, 2-3/4″ chambers, choked FULL / FULL, marked “4” & “4”, with ejectors & dbl triggers. The grade 4 receiver is engraved with a floral scroll & punch-dot background with “ITHACA GUN CO.” & flying duck on left side and “ITHACA, N.Y.” & pheasant on right. Bottom of receiver has bold floral scroll with punch-dot background. Mounted in nicely figured American walnut with fleur-de-lis checkered pistol grip, hard rubber grip cap & serrated hard rubber butt plate. Splinter forend with ribbon checkering, ebony tip insert & engraved push-button release. 1ST SET: Bore diameter: left -.616, right -.616. Bore restrictions: left -.007, right -.001. Wall thickness: left -.027, right -.034. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-3/4″. Weight: 6 lbs. 4 oz. LOP 14″. 2ND SET: Bore diameter: left -.607, right -.607. Bore restrictions: left -.015, right -.015. Wall thickness: left -.032, right -.031. Drop at heel: 2-1/4″, drop at comb: 1-3/4″. Weight: 6 lbs. 10 oz. LOP 14″. Accompanied by a vintage “ADAPTO” gun case. PROVENANCE: The David Herrmann Collection. CONDITION: Very fine. 26″ bbls retain nearly all of their blue with 2 small areas of lightly cleaned oxidation. 30″ bbls retain most of their blue with some slight muzzle wear & a few minor nicks & scratches. Receiver retains 90-95% orig case color with balance blended with silver hardening color. Trigger guard retains 90% blue with moderate wear through grip area. Stock is solid with only a few minor nicks & dings and retains most of its fine finish. There is a blank gold initial shield in the toe line. Forend is solid with a couple of minor nicks & dings & a very tiny chip; retains most of its fine finish. Mechanics are crisp.
