EXTREMELY RARE EXTRA LENGTH BBL DELUXE ENGRAVED MARLIN MODEL 1894 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. SN 173560. Cal. 25-20. Extremely rare rifle with the special order 32″ tapered oct bbl and 30″ magazine. Magazine is only 30″ because that is the longest Marlin was able to produce. Rifle has German silver blade Rocky Mtn. front sight and semi-buckhorn rear sight with standard markings on top flat above the rear sight and caliber marking over the chamber. Mounted with very highly figured, shell grain American walnut with “B” style checkered forearm and serpentine grip butt stock with crescent steel buttplate. Receiver is engraved in No. 1 style by Conrad Ulrich with the round vignette of a standing whitetail buck in a forest scene on left side with foliate arabesque patterns on each side surrounded by typical wavelet & heart shaped borders. Right side is lightly engraved in foliate arabesque patterns with matching borders. Side of the bolt is engraved in light arabesque patterns. Top of receiver & top tang are also lightly engraved and the bottom has a light foliate arabesque pattern. SN is on the bottom front of the receiver and on left side of top tang under the wood. SN in the top tang channel of the butt stock is number “197690” which number is also inside toe of buttplate. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl & magazine tube retain about 80% blue turning plum on the bbl with two areas of chemical staining where dovetails have been plugged in top flats, finished and artificially aged in top flats. The “25” in the caliber marking is re-stamped. Magazine tube is an even plum brown patina on the outer radius with stronger blue in sheltered areas. Receiver retains 75-80% case colors, moderately faded and turned to silver/gray over the bottom and receiver ring. Hammer retains 85-90% strong case colors with the lever retaining colors in sheltered areas being mostly dark patina. Buttplate is also a brown patina. Wood is sound with light handling & use marks showing heavy wear on forearm checkering with a series of light gouges toward the lower end and overall wood retains most of its orig factory varnish on the stock and about 60-70% varnish on the forearm.
