SCOTT’S EMULSION REVERSE ON GLASS SIGN. While this fanciful image of a fisherman lugging home a colossal cod fish is known to exist as a rare paper poster, it’s not been seen before in this spectacular reverse on glass form. Sign is lettered with gold and silver foil accents; and reads “Scott’s Emulsion of Pure Cod Liver Oil – With Hypophosphites – Pleasant to the Taste – Cure for Consumption”. Central image of the fisherman appears to be a combination of reverse painting and lithography but does not appear to be applied paper. Sign bears the manufacture name of “Denzi & Phillips, 24 Dey St.,N.Y.”. Denzi & Phillips partnered in 1880 and operated a shop called “Artistic Glass Signs”. SIZE: Image: 17-1/2″ x 29-3/4″. CONDITION: Very good to excellent condition and appears to be in its original frame. A few small areas of subtle paint lifting. 1-11363 (2,000-3,000) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Fall 2011 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price.
