SENSATIONAL MAJOLICA RORSTRAND PEDESTAL. Square top supported by four scroll corner decorated capital. Inset with four women’s profiles. An overhanging square molding over a long square tapered post. Decorated with colorful flowers and masks. The step base with quatrefoil style plate has four animal paw feet. Majolica type glazing in colors of blue, gold, greens and browns. A large and unusual piece of Rorstrand. Marked “Made in Sweeden Rorstrand” with impressed mark. The Rorstrand factory started in Stockholm in 1926 and has operated in different locations up until recently. PROVENANCE: Purchased at the 1893 World Columbian Exposition held in Chicago. A letter from previous owner accompanies lot. SIZE: 45-1/2” h x top size 12-1/2” sq. CONDITION: Very good with only minor dings, which are even hard to see. 8-87227 (5,000-7,000)
