*COLT 1911 COMMERCIAL SEMI-AUTOMATIC PISTOL. SN C97039. Cal. 45 ACP. 5” rnd bbl. Standard late markings with 1913 patent date in the second line. A card attached to the gun reads “Sgt. A. York / W. W. I / Somewhere in France / Colt 45 ser. No. C 97039.” The two-tone magazine is unmarked. The checkered walnut grips have large diamonds. Accompanied by a Colt factory letter fully identifying this pistol and indicating shipment to R. W. Thompson on April 3, 1919 in a shipment of 13 guns. CONDITION: 75% blue overall, worn at the muzzle and backstrap. Thinning on the sides of the slide. Bore is bright with light pitting. Grips have light wear to the points. Mechanically excellent.
