MARLIN MODEL 1881 LEVER ACTION RIFLE. SN 8138. Cal .40 (.40-60). Oct 28″ bbl with German silver blade Rocky Mountain front sight and Rocky Mountain rear sight. Bbl marked on top flat “MARLIN FIRE-ARMS CO., NEW-HAVEN, CT. U.S.A./PAT’D FEB. 7’65. JAN. 7.79’SEP16’75.NOV 19.&26’72 JUNE 3’79.DEC.3, 79.NOV. 9 NO. RE-ISSUE NOV. 9, 1890.” Full length mag. Standard blued action. Standard straight grip stock and rifle forend of American walnut with steel shotgun buttplate. PROVENANCE: Richard Rohal Estate Collection. CONDITION: Very good. Good bbl blue mixing with patina and normal handling marks. Mag has overall patina. Receiver has good blue blending with silvering in the carry areas. Buttplate is silvered with scattered light corrosion. Sound stock and forend with normal wear and handling marks. Sound mechanics with fair/good bore. 4-39897 DS (3,000-5,000)
