A. V. WILLIS (American, 1808-1899) BRACING AGAINST THE STORM. Oil on board landscape scene shows a woman sheltering herself and a small child under a tree. Five cows in the foreground with a hunter and his dog braced against the wind and another man with cow. The wind has pushed the branches to one side and the blue sky is giving way to dark black clouds. Signed bottom left “A V Willis”. Housed in a fine period gesso decorated frame.
